The Environmental Health office receives calls dealing with rental housing situations that may not be living up to the expections of either the tenant or the landlord. While our office may be involved with matters concerning public health or nuisances when investigating complaints generated from rental housing matters, most of the calls our office receives fall within the civil case framework.
The document linked below is the Universal Landlord and Tenant Act, which defines specific responsibilities for both the landlord and the tenant in rental housing matters. If you find you have landlord/tenant concerns or disputes, please reference this document for guidance on specific rights or responsibilities for both parties.
